Let’s give it a go!
Well the invite link just redirects me to the “become a reviewer” page so I guess I’m out on BGA alphas.
Edit: Nevermind, just on my phone for some reason. On desktop it works.
You know me ![]()
Happy to try
So it seems like it’s very alpha.
The game won’t load!
I’ll play if you’ve got another spot (and manage to make it work).
I insist on a 4 players on Tichu - Play Tichu for free with me: Play Tichu online from your browser
Play Bacon for free with me: Play Bacon online from your browser
Just tell if I don’t have you as a friend
Tichu is a favorite but we did it async once before and it was a) long, b) too hard to track hands and count cards. Given the excellent app, I haven’t done it on BGA since.
I really want to play more Panda Spin as well, but that also benefits from at least 1 full hand per day, velocity.
Play Small Islands with me: Play Small Islands online from your browser
Ride the Rails just started!
I’m interested in learning Food Chain Magnate over on OnlineBoardGamers. I’m wondering if there is interest among people who also don’t know the game - like 0-2 plays. Ideally we could explore this unforgiving sandbox while all having epiphanies together.
If there’s little interest at that level, I’ll likely ask again with a broader net so I can learn while slowly dying a corporate death.
Separately, any interest in Zimbabwe or Keyflower over there? I ask ahead of time as there’s no way to start a table with empty seats so it’s best to get a roster before setting it up.
Im for all 3. Im happy join FCM if you dont get any.
How is the interface, happy to give Food Chain, I’m at one play that put me off a bit.
18xx.games level - not visually flashy but stable, well thought through, and effective.
as is Tradition, I am raged_norm on OBG
Happy to play learning FCM - according to BGG have 4 plays, but all very basic. Don’t have an OBG account yet so let me know if I am allowed to play !
I’m fairly experienced with FCM, still shit at TGZ, up for either.
I’m torn on whether or not to recommend you play with the expansion milestones even on your first game. I recently played my first game with beginners that got into a price war, and everyone going into a loss spiral is pretty demoralising and doesn’t give a great impression.
By contrast, the expansion milestones supercharges everything in a good way, ensuring a timely conclusion. It also highlights the three openings: recruiting, training, or marketing, by saying these three milestones will disappear regardless of whether anyone takes them asap. I think that’s another good thing.
Otoh, the base game is good regardless, and became famous without modification. It just has more potential to drag if played in certain ways, which you might stumble across accidentally.
Good tips. I’m planning on doing the intro game, which has more start money, ends at the first bank break, and I think also omits milestones. It sounds shaped to soften mistakes and focus the decision space. Is the “introductory scenario” thought to be all right as a starting point?
@djct sounds like the right speed!
In that case, I highly recommend just playing a regular game and ending when the bank breaks. If there’s an option to do that with a slightly larger bank, so much the better.
No milestones just isn’t a fun game, imo.
EDIT: I see there’s a “short game” option (no salaries, bank only breaks once, extra money), with “no milestones” as a separate option. I’d just do the short game option.
