I’ve played it on triqqy, my only experience of T&E. Not a great user experience!
I can invite 4 people per 24 hours to the alpha.
Just some fair caution - Knizia can tweak one or two rules and make a completely different game. As opposed to Matt Leacock who can change 12 rules and keep sending us the same…damn…game.
All to say the rules will feel familiar but the strategy is very different. Main word of caution is be wary of setting up monuments…

And I’ve heard you all talking about Chicago Express. Is that BGA alpha as well? I couldn’t find it.

Yes, that’s an alpha. We tried it, personally didn’t find it a great experience async because of the auctions. I’ve not played irl, @lalunaverde would have to say how it compared

I agree with Captnbnut that the auctions are tedious asynch, but I’d definitly play again. Because the game’s GOOD.

I’d be up for trying Chicago Express again, but I’d want to play in real time with voice because I really didn’t appreciate what I was supposed to be doing.
Chicago Express wasn’t ideal. Mainly because auctions often suck on async plays. In addition, the UI is very weird in which many players, including myself, have clicked “pass” on the auction when they didn’t intend to pass
IRL Chi-Ex is a 1-1.5 hour “light” game.

I can see auctions not being ideal. If people are playing, I’ll give it a try. But it makes me lean toward Ultimate Railroads (Russian Railroads big box) instead. I realize there’s not a ton of overlap there, but for some reason I was looking at the two against each other.
