Discussion: PBF Roads & Boats "The Valley" 4-player

No, that means you have 3 boards at 7-7 after movement. 6 boards is the maximum that can be produced by a sawmill in one turn - 4 boards were produced from 2 trunks in the hex, to which we are now adding 2 boards from 1 trunk carried by a donkey. The other trunk carried by the donkey is left in the tile to be automatically processed next turn.

Ok. I’ll post in the game thread

Couple of rules questions

Can a transporter carry another transporter (eg can I put a donkey on a raft?)

If a wagon is carrying stone, can it build a road?

How does a raft on a river interact with the hex it is on? Can it build on the hex? Can it pick goods up from that hex?

Roughly how far through the game are we? I’m guessing just under a third?

How will calling conflict work going forwards? Does the player who calls conflict get to move their praying figure first?

Yes. But you can only unload a transporter carrying a transporter at the start of your move phase. You cannot load a transporter that has moved. You cannot carry anything else.

Yes, all transporters can build.

Yes. Yes.

There are 33 neutral bricks. If you all build the wonder, the game will end earlier.

Conflict decisions are always in order from the player closest to the temple.

Thanks. Useful to know

Didn’t ask you =P

But also, if anyone’s wonder decision does not hinge in any way on other player’s decision, feel free to post it as part of your turn. Might be able to skip the wonder check sometimes.

As someone noted, mouseover doesn’t work in PBF, so transporter names are obscured. I think that’s better than moving the labels off the pieces for more clutter, but a more significant problem is mixed goods that have the same colour on a transporter. Whenever that happens, I plan to write out what is being carried, or maybe screenshot the mouseover. Whenever I don’t, please assume all the goods of the same colour in a stack are identical.

Perhaps initials of transporters on their foot?

Honestly, I don’t think it’s a big deal - you can refer to them by coordinates, and two identical transporters on the same space are interchangeable. Making the names global properties, and having other text labels refer to and extract initials from the global properties is too much hassle for something intended to be played more than screenshotted.

Unless that was a joke, in which case whoosh, over my head.

Ha. Hadn’t thought about just referring to the hexes.

A raft on a coast is effectively on the land, and it does take a move to dock or undock. Rivers are better, no docking required.

Thanks

Can I confirm the range of the raft then please

Undock from 5-7 for 1 (at 5-6)
5-6 to 5-5 for 1
5-5 to 6-5 for final movement?

Looks right.

Thanks, I’ll tidy up my post

Just checking - you know you could have researched anything you wanted in production this turn?

Oh. I thought it was at the end of the turn? Is it in production? Can I retcon?

Sure. Research is part of production and production can be done in any order. So, produce, research, produce some more, all good. All you need is a transporter, paper, and geese in the same hex (and the transporter to be carrying one or more of those goods).

My brain doesn’t allow me to work out what I have on my home tile after all of those actions.

I think I’m going to build a brick, but I need to see what I have first

Lovely. I’ve researched oil rigs for the benefit of the southern kingdoms.

Where is the road to?
