I think it is ‘stolen’ more because the traditional view of deer harems and the like was that it was all male agency, with no female agency and no female choice. So the hinds ‘belong’ to the winner of the fight.
Then, of course, people started observing properly (and filming), and discovered 'twas not the case.
There are certainly a few species which drag a female off by the scruff of the neck, kicking and screaming. One of the baboon species and elephant seals, for instance. But that doesn’t get labelled as kleptogyny.
