Last year’s previews had Old King’s Crown, Kinfire Council, Nature, several games I was immediately interested in.
I just can’t get excited about any I’m seeing so far here.
Maybe Stag? But I’d never convince anyone I know to play it.
(And while I’m here: I have no problem with SUSD doing paid previews. It’s a chance to see the game board with zero promise of whether it’s good or not, keeps the channel going and you can just not watch them for a week if you don’t like the idea. Totally fine).
Gunsen looks kinda cool, but the last L5R game I got (Battle for Rokugan) I really enjoy, but my group wasn’t crazy about.
I do like the “Swords, Blood, Armour” mechanic, which seems to be lifted (and modified) from the excellent “Cry Havoc,” another game I love deeply.
And Six Sojourns seems like “8-Minute Empires” on crack, which I think I like in theory, but the price will be a deciding factor on. It’s pretty, though… Ryan Laukat has really grown as an artist.
Completely agree about the BGD elements of SUSD. I lament the necessity, but I also kinda appreciate the snapshot nature of it. Obviously happy to watch them… I find the inclusion of Matt’s new beau an interesting choice. Nothing against her, she’s obviously talented.
