Ashes: Rise/Return of the Phoenixborn #2

Main: exhaust Odette to destroy the three-eyed owl.
No side.

Exhaust one ‘summon mind fog owl’ to do so.spend heart and basic so no focus activated.

No side and done. Hand 5.

Side: meditate, deck, Shepherd of Lost Souls. Raise divine basic to lion.
Main: pass:

Still 2 cards in hand?

I think you must have. Soooo hmm. Exhaust everyone (monk spirit. 2x bears, mind fog owl) and all attack Odette.

Rules question to @RogerBW or anyone following: the holy knight cannot be targeted by spells that I cast. What happens with spells that do not ‘deal damage to target…’ but which ‘deal damage to each creature’ or similar?

I think this is the key:

and “deal X damage to all units” does not say “target”.

Yes, still two cards in hand, sorry.

Light Bringer #1 blocks Salamander Monk Spirit, counterattacks. 1/1 vs 1/1 = mutual destruction.
Celestial Knight blocks Frostback Bear #1. does not counter. CK takes 2 damage which becomes 1 wound.
Holy Knight blocks Frostback Bear #2, does not counter. HK takes 2 of 3 wounds.
Light Bringer #2 blocks Mind Fog Owl. (All other attacking units have been blocked.) Counters. 2/2 vs 1/1 destroys LB, MFO takes one damage.

Does that sound right to you?

Yes, agreed that’s all correct!

Hmm in that case… no side and done

Main, CK and HK attack Fiona, 3+3.
No side unless you do something unexpected.

Hmm. Tactical blunder on my part there wasn’t it… no I don’t think I’ll do anything in response. Ouch.

Main: play Enchanted violinist from hand. Costs one heart. No side.

Hand 4z

Side: meditate off deck (Blessing of Lightning) to raise nature basic to frog.
Main: spend frog to Summon Butterfly Monk.
Hand is 2.

(Sorry, very busy day.)

Main: summon a second three eyed owl, no side.

Side: place a lion onto Butterfly Monk (now 2/1/0).
Main: Butterfly Monk attacks Three-Eyed Owl.

Many apologies, a second MIND FOG owl, I can’t summon 2 three eyed owls, and I haven’t summoned any yet. Please feel free to reconsider your move, I’m sorry.

Hmm OK. But I’ll stick with it, boost the Monk up to attack 2 and send him after the Owl. “Aerial combat as you have never seen it before!”

Okay, well as my poor owl is going to die regardless I shall hit thr flying monk back down to earth, killing that too (and triggering their heal ability).

Harsh but fair.

Pass/None.

Are you healing anyone with the monk bits?

Sorry, yes, one point back on Odette.
